The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie….. You have buried yourself deep inside my heart and there you will stay. I loved this book, it was so easy to read and I really felt like I was let inside of Charlie’s world. The language and theme of the story reminded me a bit of ‘How to say goodbye in robot’ and ‘Marcelo in the real world’….and maybe a little bit of High Fidelity (there were mixed tapes in the story)! The whole story was told in the form of Charlie writing letters and this is why I kind of felt like he really was writing letters to me, at some points I wanted to write letters back to him, even just to let him know that I was here for him. It wasn’t all bad and sad stuff though, there were lots of warm and touching moments, even funny moments..basically it covered everything. I don’t think I will read it again in a hurry, but I loved it and it has moved into my list of ‘fave reads’
